Institutions: First Baptist Church of Glenarden

Ben Dyer Associates, Inc. provided full site master planning, site planning, engineering, environmental, surveying, and construction observation services for the First Baptist Church of Glenarden Worship Center, Family Life Center, and the 600,000 square foot campus expansion in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

This large-scale project began in 2000 with the re-zoning of the former 82 acre farm site to accommodate the 205,000 square foot, 4,000 seat worship center. The project included designing and securing approvals for:

• Roadway improvements
• Water and sewer easements
• The construction of the new Worship Center

In 2007, the Worship Center was dedicated. Ben Dyer Associates, Inc. provided similar services for the construction of the 63,000 square-foot Family Life Center on the same campus.

Ben Dyer Associates, Inc. has concurrently been providing master planning services for the First Baptist Church of Glenarden since 2009, after the church purchased the adjacent 78 acre former landscape plant nursery. The master plan expansion will bring the campus to 815,000 square-feet of gross building floor area by combining the two parcels into one 160-acre campus. The plan will add a fellowship hall, chapel, children’s and administrative wings, and more. The expansion also includes a solar farm which provides approximately 50% of electrical power for the campus.
