Mixed Use: The Brickyard Redevelopment
Originally mined for clay to make bricks, Ben Dyer Associates, Inc.’s engineers, surveyors, and land planners helped with the redevelopment of the Brickyard property into an industrial and residential mixed-use area. South of Laurel, Maryland, the Brickyard is divided into two areas:
- Brickyard North is a 51 +/- acre parcel comprised of six industrial buildings, providing 651,000 square feet of gross floor area, including 7.5 acres of land dedicated to tree preservation and a small dinosaur fossil park managed by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
- The mixed-use residential portion of the Brickyard is a Planned Community which consists of 63 +/- acres, providing two multi-family buildings totaling 860 residential units, 353 townhomes, 52 single family homes, and approximately 30,000 square feet for office/flex space, restaurant, and community clubhouse facilities located adjacent to a MARC train station.
